Who is a member?
Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
The program will begin with the communities in the Berkshire Gas territory and expand into other Massachusetts gas utility territories over the next few months.
The MMA has had a long-term, customer-focused relationship with Constellation for electricity that provides competitive pricing and a supply contract that takes into consideration the key elements that concern cities and towns. Now the MMA will bring this same competitive pricing and level of service to natural gas for its members.
Natural gas, like electricity, can be competitively bid on the open market. With all energy prices continuing to rise, it is important that municipal leaders understand the energy market and take steps to manage their energy use on all fronts.
Constellation was awarded a natural gas supplier license from the Massachusetts Public Utilities Commission on March 14 (license number GS-053). Through its agreement with the MMA, Constellation began marketing natural gas directly to cities and towns in early April, with the intent of delivering gas supplies as early as May.
For MMA members in the Berkshire Gas territory, this could be an opportunity to consider a competitive gas supply or, if already buying from another gas supplier, to evaluate the benefits of the MunEnergy gas supply program with Constellation. Constellation will offer competitive pricing for a variety of reliable gas supply products.
