MMA holds COVID-19 briefing for MSA and MMCA on June 12

The MMA held a third briefing on June 12 for the Massachusetts Select Board Association and the Massachusetts Municipal Councillors’ Association to provide important updates on municipal implications of the COVID-19 emergency.

MMA Executive Director and CEO Geoff Beckwith and Legislative Director John Robertson discussed pending and recently passed legislation, as well as state COVID guidance. Beckwith also talked about the demonstrations arising from the killing of George Floyd and addressing racial bias in our communities.

Robertson explored the state and local budget outlook for the remainder of fiscal 2020 as well as fiscal 2021 and 2022. Beckwith discussed federal aid programs, including the CARES Act, and the prospects for additional relief.

Beckwith and Robertson answered numerous questions from the more than 100 elected local leaders on the call.
