Town Manager

Lunenburg (11,835 pop.) is seeking a seasoned government leader with experience with building projects and the ability to create an environment where employees feel valued, respected, and part of a team to serve as its Town Manager. Lunenburg is an idyllic New England town in North Central Massachusetts, approximately 43 miles from Boston. Lunenburg has an AA+ bond rating, FY25 general fund budget of $44M, and a Select Board-Town Manager form of government with open Town Meeting. Candidates must have strong leadership qualities and the ability to develop procedures and policies to attract and retain staff, communicate with honesty and transparency, hold staff accountable, and be able to build trust and morale. Candidates must have a strong background in municipal finance, and experience in long-term budgeting and planning strategies. Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree, preferably in public administration or a related field and experience as a town manager/administrator, assistant town manager/administrator, or head of a significant department in a complex municipal organization, or professional equivalent.

Annual salary: $173K+/- DOQ. AA/EOE.
