Tewksbury, Mass. (30,905 pop.), is seeking a visible, seasoned government leader with a strong background in finance capable of navigating Tewksbury through potential uncertain fiscal times to serve as its Town Manager. The Town Manager must balance the needs of younger families in town while keeping taxes affordable for veterans and a growing senior population, and must be able to juggle those demands with a desire among residents to maintain its small-town character. Tewksbury is a close-knit community, home to generations of families who enjoy its small-town feel, excellent schools, proximity to services and retail, and easy access to highways. The town is located 25 miles northwest of Boston. Tewksbury has an AA+ rating, FY25 general fund budget of $138.27 million, and a Select Board-Town Manager form of government with open Town Meeting. Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree, preferably in public administration or a related field and experience as a Town Manager/Administrator or Assistant Town Manager/Administrator. Preferred candidates must have superior financial acumen, a vision for economic development, effective communication skills, be active listeners, be adept at managing personnel and willing to delegate, and be able to juggle competing needs and interests.
