Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
Town Accountant, full-time or part-time. This is a union position, working under the direction of the Town Administrator and the Board of Selectmen. Performs highly responsible accounting tasks, including primary responsibility for all accounts, warrant preparation, cash receipts, maintenance of financial records and preparation of statutory reports, and financial monitoring of town funds, federal and state grants. Assists in preparation of annual budgets, tax classification process, salary schedules, investment & debt management, audit coordination, and payroll. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; three years of progressively responsible experience in municipal accounting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with MUNIS software preferred. Massachusetts Municipal Auditors’ and Accountants’ Association (MMAAA) Certified Governmental Accountant within three years of employment required. Criminal background/CORI check, pre-employment physical, drug testing.
