The town of Millis is seeking an experienced, skilled financial professional for the role of Staff Accountant. Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with town/department policies and procedures, which on occasion require the exercise of judgment in situations not clearly defined by precedent or established procedure. Work under rules and regulations as defined by Massachusetts General Laws, in accordance with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Uniform Massachusetts Accounting System (UMAS) of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. Responsible for accurate, timely, and complete processing of biweekly payroll for town/school employees. Position will assist with general municipal accounting functions including accounts payable, financial analysis and compliance reporting.
A successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to communicate clearly and professionally. A bachelor’s degree in finance/ accounting or similar field or relevant combination of education/experience related to payroll and accounting functions, municipal, or office administrative functions preferred. Proficiency in use of technology, specifically MUNIS accounting software desired. Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in these areas, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Salary: $67,821-$74,861 DOQ
