Public Works Director

The town of Plainville seeks qualified applicants for the position of Director of Public Works. This position functions as a member of the senior management team and has direct responsibility for the management, operation and supervision of the functions of the Public Works Department.

Responsibilities include oversight of the water treatment and distribution system, the stormwater and wastewater collection systems, roadways, sidewalks, DPW facilities, transportation, and bridge systems.

The position requires a minimum of seven to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the fields of public works and the ability to manage large scale projects, contracts, personnel, contractors, and resources. The position requires a college degree, preferably in civil engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Professional engineer license and/or licensing in the areas of water treatment and distribution preferred.
