The city of Watertown seeks a highly qualified, skilled candidate to fill the position of Procurement Director. Appointed by the City Manager and reporting to the Assistant City Manager for Finance, the Procurement Director oversees all purchasing functions as authorized by the laws of the Commonwealth under Chapters 7, 25A, 30, 30B and 149. The Director is also responsible for bid procedures, the procurement of goods and services, RFP and contracts, maintenance of records, approval of invoices for payment, and managing vendors. This position supervises two department staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or a related field and seven to ten years of public purchasing related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have knowledge of the Uniform Procurement Codes and MGL Chapters 7, 25A, 30, 30B and 149. The position requires designation as a Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official (MCPPO) or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of employment. Operational background with MUNIS software strongly preferred.

HOURS: The work week is 37.5 hours (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Tuesdays: 8:30 a.m. -7 p.m.; Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.). This position could be eligible for up to one day of remote work and flexible work hours.

SALARY: This position has a starting salary of $124,204 annually. Hiring above Step 1 is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
