METROWEST VETERANS SERVICES DIRECTOR FOR MEDWAY, HOPKINTON, HOLLISTON AND ASHLAND

The MetroWest Veterans Services District is seeking a District Veterans Services Director (based in Holliston). The Director will serve as the primary advocate for veterans & their families and deliver essential services to the veterans and their eligible dependents residing in Medway, Hopkinton, Holliston and Ashland.

  • Receives all applications for veterans’ benefits and shall make the initial determinations of eligibility; forward request for authorization for reimbursement to the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Services; pay benefits and prepare and submit monthly returns of veterans’ benefits to the District for proportional reimbursement.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with applicants, recipients, staff members of each of the District’s towns, District Board, other agencies and the general public.
  • Works with community and governmental agencies in establishing and coordinating programs for veterans. Including accessing VA benefits and employment assistance through Massachusetts career centers and the US Department of Labor workforce training programs.
  • Works in conjunction with the MetroWest Veterans Services District Board to District Board meetings throughout the year, create, administer and presents District budget and benefits budgets for each of the four towns, and any other applicable reports.
  • Administers the day to day operations of the Veterans’ Services Offices in Holliston and manages office hours, coffee hours and other outreach veteran events in Ashland, Hopkinton & Medway.

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, human services, or social work. Five to seven years of progressively responsible professional and administrative experience in the field of human services, including management and program planning; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a United States Veteran in accordance with the definition of Massachusetts Veteran [MGL c. 4, section 7, cl. 43 as amended by the Acts of 2005, chapter 130]. Possession of a Class D Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license is required and must have access to a personal vehicle for travel between the Towns and other required outreach.

Veterans Service Officers Certification the Commonwealth of Massachusetts preferred, but must be obtained within 90-days of employment. VA accreditation through MA EOVS within 6 months of employment. This is a full time, 40-hour per week position. The starting salary range, $70k – $89k annually, is commensurate with experience.
