Human Resources Director

Starting annual salary $125,000, commensurate with experience

The Human Resources Director provides strategic planning and technical assistance on all human resource functions, delivering services to approximately 350 town employees, manages insurance benefit programs for over 1,200 town and school employees and retirees. Serves as lead negotiator in collective bargaining for seven town unions on behalf of the Select Board and Town Administrator and assists with collective bargaining for Belmont Light. Develops the department’s annual budget. This position initiates changes to personnel policy, serves as the liaison to the Employee Insurance Advisory Committee and the Employee Safety Committee, and manages the employee assistance program.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in public administration, management, human resources or a related field, a minimum of seven years of increasingly responsible professional experience in municipal HR management, and labor relations experience. A master’s degree and human resources certification is preferred. Must possess thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, principles and practices related to Massachusetts municipal HR management

40-hour per week position and qualifies for the town’s complete comprehensive benefits package.
