The town of Natick Board of Health seeks a highly responsible and experienced professional for the position of Health Agent. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Field inspections including but not limited to food establishments, nuisance complaints, housing, pools, camps, septic systems, etc.
  • Plan review and administrative work in the office and field relating to all aspects of environmental health and enforcement of the state sanitary codes and local regulations.
  • Prepares order letters seeking enforcement of violations. Prepares documents in support of public health hearings and department enforcement actions, hearings, legal actions as well as presentation of public health rationale for enforcement in court.
  • Act as a liaison and represents Department on committees or at meetings
  • Attends educational meetings, seminars and training programs necessary to remain current with new regulations and policies; participates in professional organizations.

Qualified candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, public or environmental health or related field, at least one year of experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience in public or environmental health

Registered Sanitarian or Registered Environmental Health Specialist or the ability to be academically qualified to take the certification within two years of appointment preferred. Candidate must possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.

The position is a Grade 2 on the town of Natick Classification and Pay Plan. The hiring range for position is $60,000 – $68,000 based on qualifications.
