The town of Longmeadow DPW is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time positions of Fleet Mechanic. Position is responsible for performing skilled automotive work in the inspection, diagnostic, repair and maintenance of town trucks and automobiles, heavy and light equipment, and associated mechanical equipment. Performs semi-skilled and skilled work in maintaining the vehicles and equipment of the town. Primary objectives include ensuring vehicles are fixed properly the first visit and the deployment of a preventative maintenance program.
Successful candidate must have:
High school diploma or equivalent, and three to five years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience in automotive and equipment repair work.
Current valid motor vehicle license; Class B Commercial driver’s license with Air Brake and Tanker Endorsements, required with Class A Commercial driver’s license with Air Brake and Tanker Endorsements, preferred. Class 2A hoisting license and Class 3A hoisting license for five ton overhead crane. Certified qualified brake inspector to service trucks with air brakes. OSHA 10.
