The town of Derry, NH has an immediate opening for an Environmental Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Public Works, this position is responsible for environmental compliance across all divisions within Public Works and across town boards. Essential functions include, but are not limited to, performing technical preparation of EPA mandated programs including NPDES Phase II Stormwater and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan for town facilities; overseeing the town facilities groundwater and surface water monitoring and preparation of reports to regulatory agencies; and providing technical assistance to Water/Wastewater divisions with respect to NPDES permit compliance and other water and wastewater quality compliance issues. The Environmental Coordinator also provides technical guidance to town boards, including the Conservation Commission and Planning Board, and provides direct supervision to Transfer Station staff.
Candidates for this position must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge of environmental science, plus five to seven years of related experience; knowledge of statutes, bylaws, regulations of various federal and State of New Hampshire regulatory agencies; knowledge in analytical and scientific methods for various sampling; and a valid driver’s license. A master’s degree and/or professional engineer license, as well as wetlands and soils experience are preferred.
Salary: $80,267 to $104,166, DOE, with a 3.5% wage adjustment on July 1.
