The town of Essex, Department of Public Works, seeks a qualified applicant to fill the position of Department of Public Works Equipment Operator. The applicant should be an energetic, ambitious, reliable, and motivated team player. This position requires the ability to operate equipment as well as perform physical labor. Applicant will perform all equipment operator and laborer duties on town roadways, infrastructure, public grounds, equipment, and buildings. Must be available for snow and ice removal and perform all DPW-related tasks as required.
Applicants should hold, or can acquire within one year, a Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operators license, Class B Commercial Drivers License with air brake endorsement or better, and a hoisting engineer’s license (minimum of a 2B). A pre-employment physical, drug test, and CORI check are required.
Starting wage (as of April 1) is $24.51 per hour with step raises for two years and incentive pay for each license. (CDL and Hoisting).
