General statement of duties:

Responsible for directing, administrating, planning, coordinating and supervising city programs, services, and activities that meet the needs of the elder residents of the city of Methuen.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Council on Aging department, including oversight of city staff and/or other employees.
  • Responsible for oversight of operations of the city of Methuen Senior Center.
  • Responsible for evaluation, coordination, and oversight of programs, staffing, grants, budgets, and regulations.
  • Prepares and monitors annual department budget.
  • Directs and participates in scheduling of community activities which serve the city of Methuen senior population.
  • Requires team building skills and high visibility in the community.
  • Leads a departmental team that strives to make the Senior Center operation run efficiently to provide quality programs in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Five years of responsible work experience in a related field plus a minimum of three years supervisory capacity as a planner or Senior Center Director.
  • Previous facility management is a plus.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and have reliable transportation.
  • Equivalent of combination work experience and education may be considered.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Salary: $86,247 – $103,496 annually
