The town of Tewksbury seeks qualified applicants for Chief Assessor to perform professional, administrative, and technical work in managing the operations of the Assessor’s department and in the appraisal of town-wide property in accordance with state and local statute and regulations. Candidate for this position should have working knowledge of statutory requirements relating to taxation, abatements, and appeals procedures; Massachusetts General Laws, DOR reporting requirements; a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics accounting or related field; five years of progressive responsibility in assessing and valuation with supervising experience; or an equivalent and relevant combination of education and experience. Massachusetts Accredited Assessor’s certification preferred or the ability to obtain it within two years of hire. Excellent organizational skills. Proficient computer skills in the use of Microsoft Office, Vision, GIS, and Munis software. Effective leadership and supervisory skills. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
