The town of Avon seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Treasurer. Duties include assisting the Treasurer/Collector with the processing, deposit of, custody of and disbursement of all town funds. This includes processing payroll, vendor payments and all other accounts payable. The Assistant Treasurer is required to work independently, take the place of and perform all legal functions in the absence of the Treasurer/Collector. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, public administration or related work with a minimum of three years of experience; or an associate degree with an equivalent combination of relevant education or equivalent experience preferred. Required to attend annual School of the Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers Association to attain certification as a Massachusetts Assistant Treasurer/Collector of Taxes. Bookkeeping experience in a municipal setting highly required. Experience in resolving difficult customer service requests is helpful. The work week is 35 hours per week in accordance with the operating hours of town hall. The rate of pay is $30.07 per hour. Salary negotiable DOQ.
