The city of Watertown seeks an Assistant Recreation Director who will be responsible for supervisory, administrative and financial duties in the Recreation Department. This position assists with the operation of the office, maintaining and growing the city’s recreation programs, and other related work and ensuring compliance with all State regulations and local ordinances.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree or equivalent in related field and four to six years of experience in recreational leadership positions, or any equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a municipal setting. Professional certifications or ability to obtain once hired include Certified Park & Recreation Professional and Certified Playground Safety Inspector. Red Cross First Aid & CPR-AED must be earned within three months of hire.
TERMS/HOURS: The general work week is 37.5 hours (Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) though this schedule may vary by season and programmatic needs where weekend and evening work may be required.
SALARY: This position has a starting salary of $93,874 annually. Hiring above Step 1 is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
