The town of Plymouth is seeking qualified applicants for the position of ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS to work in planning and directing all the functions and activities of the Public Works Department.
Performs supervisory and complex administrative work in planning and directing all the functions and activities of the Public Works Department. Works under the administrative direction of the Director of Public Works. DPW Divisions include Solid Waste; Highway; Facilities; Fleet Maintenance; Parks and Forestry; Cemetery, including crematory operations; Water; Sewer; Engineering; Facility Maintenance; Safety; and DPW Administration.
Administers daily operations, which may include weather related events, with a focus on project management and labor relations, including budget development, and capital planning. Evaluates Public Works operations, develops short and long-range plans to meet demands of the Department of Public Works service areas. Supervises and assists Division Superintendents and Managers in the day-to-day operations of the Department. Prepares annual budget recommendations for the Director of Public Works and assists with presentations to boards, committees, and Annual/Fall Town Meetings. Develop and maintain work related programs, evaluations, training, and coordinates a variety of capital projects.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, public administration or related field, master’s degree preferred; five years’ progressively responsible municipal experience (labor relations, construction, budget) with a minimum of two years as a supervisor; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The salary range for this position is $122,593.64 – $154,601.20 per year, 40 hours per week. Applications will be reviewed upon receipt.
