The town of Holliston is seeking applicants for a part-time Assistant Building Inspector. The Assistant Building Inspector provides professional and technical inspectional work related to the enforcement and interpretation of the Massachusetts State Building Code, the town’s Zoning Bylaws, and the Architectural Access Board regulations.

The primary duty of the Assistant Inspector of Buildings is to support the Building Inspector and to protect the health, safety and welfare of the residents through the enforcement of state and local laws, town bylaws and regulations.

This is a part-time benefit eligible position, 20-28 hours per week (average). The position is Grade 600 and the salary range is $37.69 – $39.44 per hour.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent. A bachelor’s degree in a field related to construction or design is preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and experience to be a Certified Massachusetts Local Inspector in accordance with 780 CMR 110.R7. Certification as a Local Inspector of Buildings by the Board of Building Regulations and Standards. A valid state driver’s license, Massachusetts Construction Supervisor license preferred. Upon employment, within six months, employee must be enrolled to take the Local Inspector exams as required. Requirement to pass the exam and earn license within 18 months of employment.

Must maintain certification as a Local Inspector of Buildings by the Board of Building Regulations and Standards, and in accordance with 780 CMR 110.R5 (M.G.L. Ch. 143, Section 3).
