The Commonwealth is closer to closing the books on fiscal 2024 after the governor signed a fiscal 2024 closeout supplemental budget on Dec. 4.

The law totals $701 million, with a net cost to the state of $133.6 million, due to the availability of federal reimbursements for the included Medicaid spending.

Of interest to municipalities, the law includes $11.1 million for fiscal 2025 payments to address municipal tax abatement reimbursements for veterans, widows, blind persons, and the elderly.

The final bill did not include proposed changes that had been included in the Senate’s version to extend the effective date for changes to the tax title foreclosure process that were included in the fiscal 2025 state budget law. As a result, the changes included in the state budget law took effect on Nov. 1.
