Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
The Massachusetts Municipal Management Association will hold a Women Leading Government event on Nov. 14 in Amherst.
Featured speakers Amy Martin, director of the Weissman Center for Leadership at Mount Holyoke College, and Al Roberts, director of the University of Massachusetts School of Public Policy, will discuss the challenges women face as they choose a career in public sector management.
The presentation will be followed by a facilitated networking session, and the program will close with a reception with light hors d’oeuvres.
The event is sponsored by UMass Women into Leadership (UWiL), a competitive fellowship program that accepts approximately 30 students per year and offers professional development and training to its students, who come from a range of backgrounds and majors.
The event will run from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Old Chapel at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
The event is free, but registration is required. Any municipal employee interested in advancing his or her career may register.
The mission of Women Leading Government is to encourage women to pursue management positions.
