Administration issues new guidance for construction sites

This morning, the Baker-Polito administration issued supplemental information for cities and towns and construction site operators under Executive Order 13, which requires the closure of non-essential businesses during the COVID-19 emergency.

One document provides additional details regarding municipal enforcement authority concerning construction operations within communities. The other has supplemental safety guidelines for construction sites.

The enforcement guidance document includes contact information for local officials who have questions about the enforcement procedures or the safety guidelines.

In conversations with the administration over the past couple weeks, local officials had requested additional guidance regarding construction sites, where it can be difficult to maintain appropriate social distancing and provide required hygiene facilities. Local officials have expressed concerns about protecting the health of workers and mitigating the spread of coronavirus in their communities.
