Exploring the Massachusetts Equal Pay Act
Two attorneys from the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office will be covering an update on the recent Open Meeting Law interpretations and the Equal Pay Law that will go into effect July 1, 2018. Jonathan Sclarsic will review the recent SCJ decision in Boelter v. Wayland Board of Selectmen which addresses how the Open Meeting Law restricts aggregation and distribution of employee evaluations. Genevieve Nadeau will provide members with an overview of the Equal Pay Law and guidance from the Attorney General’s Office.

Panel Presentation: Preparing for Pay Equity in Cities and Towns
Cheryl Pinarchick, co-chair of Fisher & Phillips LLP’s Pay Equity Practice Group, and her partner, Joseph Ambash, will review the new Massachusetts Equal Pay Act, parse the guidance released by the MA Attorney General’s Office and discuss steps cities and towns can take achieve pay equity and mitigate legal risk.
