The Cannabis Control Commission had not yet released draft regulations governing the adult use of marijuana.
The CCC must release a draft within weeks if it is to meet its March 15 deadline for final regulations and allow for a public comment period.
The CCC must settle or clarify numerous issues in crafting regulations. Chief among them is the exact process applicants and potential host municipalities will go through to have a recreational facility gain approval. The MMA has suggested that the host municipality should be involved from the beginning of the application process to ensure a smooth and efficient process that respects local zoning and other guidelines.
The commissioners will also need to establish guidelines for facilities that allow on-site consumption, one-day cannabis licenses, and the fee schedule for businesses.
The CCC is required by law to begin accepting applications for recreational marijuana businesses by April 1, with sales set to begin on June 1.
