The State Ethics Commission conducts monthly seminars on the conflict-of-interest law, providing an opportunity for municipalities and municipal agencies to have new hires and employees who were not able to attend earlier sessions to receive training on the restrictions imposed under state law (Ch. 268A).

Seminars are typically held on the fourth Thursday of the month at 11 a.m. at the commission office, unless otherwise indicated.

Seminars are scheduled for the following Thursdays: Jan. 22, Feb. 26, March 26 and April 23.

The commission (www.mass.gov/ethics) is located in the McCormack State Office Building at 1 Ashburton Place, room 619, in Boston. Space is limited. To register, call (617) 371-9500.

The commission also offers the opportunity to participate in a seminar via webinar. And municipalities and municipal agencies that have not hosted a seminar in a while may want to consider scheduling one at their offices. To do so, contact Carolyn Teehan at (617) 371-9517 or cteehan@eth.state.ma.us.

The Ethics Reform Act of 2009 mandates that public employees complete an online training program and test related to the conflict-of-interest law every other year.
