Who is a member?
Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
On April 24, voters in the town of Bridgewater approved a manager/council form of government.
The new charter will replace the town meeting and board of selectmen with a nine-member Town Council and town manager. Seven members of the council will be elected from districts, and two will be elected at-large. The councillors will serve three-year terms.
The town manager will be the chief administrative officer and will be responsible for proposing the annual budget to the council.
The current form of government will remain intact until Jan. 1, when the Town Council will be seated.
A special election will be held in September to elect the members of the town council.
