Assistant Treasurer/Collector

The town of Hudson Finance department is looking for a qualified Assistant Treasurer/Collector to support the Town Treasurer/Collector with the statutory duties and responsibilities of the department. This role involves skilled accounting and clerical work to assist in managing town revenues and payments. Responsibilities include overseeing daily office operations, guiding staff, performing daily proofing and reconciliation of staff work, resolving complex issues related to payments and penalties, answering taxpayer inquiries, conducting research to resolve problems, updating records, transferring funds between bank accounts, reconciling monies from all departments, posting to the General Ledger, responding to information requests from taxpayers, government officials, and bank officers, facilitating tax collection activities, and acting as the informational contact person for departmental operations, policies, and programs. The Assistant Treasurer/Collector will also assume all duties and responsibilities of the Treasurer/Collector in their absence. Communications skills are essential, including an ability to relate in a polite and professional manner with the public, other employees, and officials of other governmental units.

Municipal experience applicants only with an associate degree in finance or related field; three years of related municipal finance experience is required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required to be certified within three years by Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurer Association if not currently certified. Highly proficient in Excel and Word (Munis experience preferred). Ability to be bondable post-offer.

Salary: This is a full-time position (37.5 hours week) non-union position with full benefits. Full salary range is $55,019 – $72,400 annually (DOQ).
