Town of Acushnet
Acushnet (pop. 10,602) Financially sound town, located on the Massachusetts South Coast. The town abuts New Bedford, 50 miles south of Boston and 30 miles southeast of Providence, R. I. Acushnet is seeking a qualified individual for the full-time Town Administrator position. The Town Administrator is the chief administrator officer of the town and is responsible to the Board of Selectmen for the administration of all town affairs.
Required Qualifications: The Town Administrator “shall be a person especially fitted by education, training or previous experience in public administration to perform the duties of his office. The Town Administrator “shall devote full time to the office and shall not hold any other public office, elective or appointive, nor engage in any other business or occupation during his term.” (Acushnet Town Charter, Chapter 5, Section 3)
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required): Bachelor’s degree in management, public administration, finance, or a related field and three years of progressively responsible executive experience in municipal government.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Demonstrated leadership ability, extensive knowledge of administration and finance, human resources, collective bargaining, public works, public safety, planning, and infrastructure project management essential. Ability to plan and execute a $35+ million budget. MUNIS experience preferred. Salary: $125,000 to $150,000 DOQ.
