Treasurer/ Collector
The town of Medway is seeking experienced candidates for the position of Treasurer/Collector. This position works under the direction of the Finance Director. The Treasurer/Collector is responsible for the collection of all monies received by the Town including real estate, personal property, excise taxes, and all municipal fees. Oversees cash management/flow, debt management, and issuance of new debt. Oversees tax title proceedings, resolves tax issues, and administers trust funds. Plans, schedules, implements and manages tax and utility billings, demands and warrants, and lien processing. Responsible for bank and tax receivable reconciliations. Responsible for the Town payroll system and associated benefits. Prepares/verifies municipal lien certificates, betterment discharges, releases, and other collections and debt.
A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration management, or related field is required. Three to five years of related experience is required along with knowledge of municipal finance and taxation. Experience with Munis is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Certification through the Massachusetts Treasurers and Collectors Association as a certified Treasurer/Collector (CMMC and CMMT) or the ability to obtain certifications within three years of appointment is required.
Attention to detail, strong communication, and computer skills are essential. Must be able to be bonded.
