MassSave is accepting applications through Jan. 31 for its Municipal Energy Manager Grant Program, which helps offset the cost of such a position in city or town hall.
The program, funded by Eversource and National Grid, offers eligible communities up to $120,000 in funding per year over three years.
A municipal energy manager is responsible for managing a community’s energy usage, energy efficiency, and the reduction of municipal facility greenhouse gas emissions, with a particular focus on K-12 school buildings.
Communities hiring a full-time municipal energy manager are eligible to receive up to $120,000 per year. Municipalities hiring a part-time manager, or a contractor to serve in the position, are eligible to receive up to $60,000 per year.
The grant opportunity is open to any community serviced by Eversource or National Grid. Communities may apply for funding as a group, provided that all members of the group are served by the two utilities.
Energy managers must start within 90 days of execution of the Municipal Energy Manager Funding Agreement. Funding for years two and three of the program is contingent upon meeting ongoing program requirements.
MassSave will host office hours on Feb. 15, noon-1 p.m., and on Feb. 22, 2-3 p.m., to answer questions. (Click on the link to register.) MassSave has also published a webinar recording and presentation slides on the grant program.
