OPERATIONS MANAGER 

Join the town of Plainville’s team as our new Operations Manager within the Department of Public Works (DPW) and play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing our community’s infrastructure. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $91,549 to $116,679 and reports directly to the DPW Director. As Operations Manager, you will supervise a wide range of essential activities under minimal supervision, focusing on constructing and maintaining public infrastructure. This includes water treatment and distribution, storm-water collection, wastewater collection, and the upkeep of roads, sidewalks, transportation, and bridges. Your responsibilities will extend to inspecting all public works and construction related to public works, ensuring our town remains a safe and well-maintained environment for all residents and visitors.

The ideal candidate will have a college degree in civil engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with at least five years of supervisory experience in public works. This role requires a Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s license (Class B minimum), OSHA 10- and 30-Hour Construction Safety certifications, OSHA 40 HR HAZWOPER, and Certified Paving Inspector credentials, or the ability to obtain these within one year of hire. You should have a thorough knowledge of public infrastructure maintenance techniques, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage personnel and projects effectively. The Operations Manager must be prepared for physical work in various conditions, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be available for recall in emergencies.
