Director of Inspectional Services

The town of Mattapoisett is seeking highly motivated and qualified applicants for the position of Director of Inspectional Services.

Mattapoisett is a small, coastal community in southeastern Massachusetts with an annual operating budget of approximately $32 million. The town has approximately 3,200 residential properties and 290 commercial properties.

The Director of Inspectional Services is responsible for department level management of the Building Department. This includes the enforcement of all construction and related codes, serving as the town’s zoning enforcement officer, directing the activities of all subordinate personnel, performing the administrative work of the department, directing the issuance of permits and the collection of fees, maintain online permitting software, preparing and issuing reports, maintaining files, and preparing and managing departmental budgets.

The successful candidate shall have a minimum of a high school education and five years of closely related experience in construction, engineering or design including supervisory experience; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
