The town of Maynard seeks a highly qualified, detail-oriented candidate, experienced in environmental science and GIS development and management to serve in this newly created and crucial role within the Department of Public Works.
Position responsible for water quality and compliance reporting related to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency drinking water regulations. The position requires an understanding of environmental management concepts and hydrologic processes in order to evaluate and protect local resources and to transfer related information to other departments, staff, and the public. This individual will also write or assist in writing proposals to seek grant funding for special projects as well as manage all water/sewer GIS data. Additionally, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing public outreach and educational programs.
This is an exempt, salaried position; 40-hour work week. Salary: $74,000 – $80,000, DOQE. Bachelor’s in environmental science or related field or minimum five years in environmental compliance, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential function of the job required. Master’s degree preferred. At least five years of GIS experience in both development and management of GIS data required. Must acquire and maintain a valid Massachusetts Operation License – Class D1, within one year. Encouraged to obtain up to a Class D2 license. NASSCO certification in Pipeline Assessment, Lateral Assessment and Manhole Assessment Certification Program required. Excellent 75/25 BCBS health benefits package.
