FIRE CHIEF
The town of Tisbury is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Fire Chief. Under the administrative direction of the Select Board, the Fire Chief in accordance with MGL Chapter 48, Section 42A, is responsible for emergency response, daily administrative management and financial planning of the Tisbury-EMS Department.
Tisbury has a year-round population of 4,815 which increases in the summer months.The Department employs eight full-time personnel and approximately 48 per-diem EMS and volunteer on-call firefighters.
The successful candidate will be a professional, command-level Fire Officer with demonstrated experience leading a municipal Fire-EMS department, who embraces a high level of personal and departmental accountability. The position requires extensive knowledge of fire suppression and prevention, emergency medical services, and emergency management; along with the ability to motivate and lead department personnel; maintain harmonious relationships with stakeholders, local agencies and businesses; communicate productively with town, state and elected officials, and be responsive to the needs of the community. Experience in labor management is an advantage.
Candidate must establish residency on the island of Martha’s Vineyard within twelve months of appointment. Compensation by negotiated contract including comprehensive benefits package.
