The city of Watertown seeks an experienced individual to join its Department of Public Works as a Construction Permit Inspector. In this role, under the direction of the City Engineer, the inspector will conduct inspections to ensure the quality and compliance of materials and workmanship on a variety of public works
infrastructure projects, including construction, repair, maintenance, and alterations. Core responsibilities include performing inspections to verify adherence to city standards, specifications, and safety regulations, as well as assisting in the issuance of construction permits and coordinating with private utility companies to facilitate project execution.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in engineering, construction technology, construction management or related field; a minimum of four to six experience in construction supervision or inspection in areas of heavy underground utility construction, infrastructure design, or civil construction. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and tradespeople. Knowledge of AutoCAD and ArcGIS preferred.
TERMS/HOURS: The is a union position that is 37.5 hours per week. DPW operating hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
SALARY: Step 1 salary is $76,095. Hiring above Step 1 is dependent on qualifications and experience.
