The town of Middleborough with a population of 22,000 is accepting resumes for the full-time position of Wastewater Superintendent. The Middleborough Wastewater System has approximately 2,000 customers and is an advanced tertiary treatment facility designed to treat 2.16 million gallons per day operating 29 miles of pipe, six pumping stations plus the facility. The department has an annual budget of $1.8 million. The Water Superintendent works under the administrative direction of the DPW Director and Town Manager and in conformance with federal, state and local regulatory laws, rules and regulations. The Wastewater Superintendent has direct supervisory responsibility for approximately five full-time employees. Requirements include a strong background in wastewater treatment; experience in management and budgeting; seven years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a Grade 6 or higher treatment facility; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree highly desired. Special requirements include possession of a Massachusetts Grade 6 Wastewater Treatment operator’s license. The successful candidate will possess strong management, leadership, training and communication skills and have the ability to interact positively with the Board of Selectmen, Town Manager, department heads and the public.
