Local Aid and Finance MMA to hold spring legislative breakfast meetings
Local officials are invited to meet with their legislators during nine free Legislative Breakfast meetings the MMA is sponsoring across the state this spring.
The meetings bring together municipal officials and legislators to discuss issues affecting local communities, particularly fiscal 2011 budget issues. Many representatives and senators have committed to attending the breakfast meetings.
The spring breakfast meetings come at an important time, with the legislative session in full swing and House and Senate votes on a state budget bill due by July 1.
Local officials are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to describe the problems that communities face, discuss potential solutions, and address what can be done collaboratively to enhance the quality of life for residents and taxpayers.
There will also be discussion about initiatives to reduce municipal costs as well as other legislative priorities.
The Legislative Breakfast meetings will be held on the following Fridays: Feb. 26, March 5 and March 12. The meetings begin at 8 a.m. with coffee and networking. The program begins at 8:30 and concludes at 10 a.m.
The March 12 meeting in Sandwich will be a joint meeting with the Cape Cod and Islands Selectmen’s and Councilors’ Association, which will be dealing with budget and finance issues.
